BEIJING (Reuters) - Scientists in eastern China say they have succeeded in controlling the flight of pigeons with micro electrodes planted in their brains, state media reported on Tuesday. Scientists at the Robot Engineering Technology Research Centre at Shandong University of Science and Technology said there electrodes could command them to fly right or left or up or down, Xinhua news agency said.
The implants stimulate different areas of the pigeon's brain according to signals sent by the scientists via computer, and force the bird to comply with their commands, Xinhua said. It's the first such successful experiment on a pigeon in the world, Xinhua quoted the centre's chief scientist, Su Xuecheng, as saying.
Su and his colleagues, who Xinhua said had had similar success with mice in 2005, were improving the devices used in the experiment and hoped that the technology could be put into practical use in future. The report did not specify what practical uses the scientists saw for the remote-controlled pigeons.
(My viewpoint) Sounds like they are making some advances with mircochips controlling the brain. This could be some exciting news for people with brain damage. If they develop this technology it could be useful for people who are paralyzed.

So it looks like we know what's going to happen to Anna Nicole Smith's body -- it's going to the Bahamas. But what's really going on with Anna Nicole's body -- as in, a body that's been deceased since February 8. (Warning: this can get a little grisly, so avoid ingesting within a couple hours of eating.)
TMZ got the details of decomposition from three prominent forensic scientists, including Dr. Arpad Vass of the Oak Ridge National Laboratory, a frequent consultant for police department nationwide, and here's the story. For the first few days after you stop breathing and your blood stops flowing, your body's cells still think they're alive, and start to digest themselves from the inside, though your brain cells typically die within three to seven minutes after you do. Your skin, as it begins to get ingested by enzymes, begins to slough, slip, and shrink, causing sheets of skin to fall
away; it's this shrinkage that explains the myth that your hair and nails continue to grow after death.
This is when things really get ugly, about four to six days after death. In what's known as putrefaction, bacteria begin to break down your body's tissues. The pancreas quickly digests itself, the gases in your abdomen start to blow up, causing green, blue and black colorations on the surface, and swelling within. Your tongue may shoot out of your mouth, and your body will begin to explode with sulphuric (i.e., really rotten egg-like) smells. But here's the good news for Anna -- embalming will give the body up to a year of relief, especially if done well, with synthetic fluids. Dr. Vass tells TMZ that a body embalmed at the highest level of skill could be recognizable for up to two years.
(My viewpoint) This saga just needs to end. Let them bury Anna.

This whole story line is like a train wreck. I can’t stop watching it.
The judge who ruled on who gets control of Anna Nicole Smith's body wants the starlet buried, and will not let her mom stand in his way.The appeal filed by Smith's mother, Virgie Arthur, just moments after Seidlin's teary decision to release Anna's body to Dannielynn's court-appointed guardian Thursday, was rejected early Monday morning. In the court papers obtained by TMZ, Seidlin claims that a stay would increase the "potential for adverse consequences," adding that "Arthur seeks an indefinite stay and has shown no intent to expedite the proceedings."
